High above the rolling waves of Capri lies the majestic Capri Palace Hotel, a short drive from the Rodeo Drive-esque streets of designer shops that help make Capri one of the most visited islands off the Italian coast. For those who can afford to go all out during their stay, the Capri Palace Hotel is a must-stay (it even has its own designer boutique).

Luxuriously decorated, the hotel has two main artistic influences – art and film – both of which make up the interior design themes of the main rooms. The lounge and bar area has old-fashioned film set lights at every corner and the hotel suites are all named after artists or film stars (Monroe, Warhol and Callas being three of the most beautiful). While the suites are all decorated differently (some with their own private pools), the rooms are either traditional, slick and modern or rustic – and all incredible.

For the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, a visit to the Capri Palace Hotel means a £4,000 visit to its famous medical spa, The Capri Beauty Farm. Most recently, for her appearances to promote her comeback movie, Iron Man, Paltrow was flaunting some seriously toned legs, courtesy of The Leg School treatment at the Italian retreat.

For a mere £4,000, legs are encased in a special medical mud for 20 minutes, wrapped in bandages and put through a hot and cold walk through bubbling water jets to get circulation moving and to reduce cellulite. Despite this being the treatment that has garnered the most press over recent months thanks to its celebrity following, the spa is famous for its man in charge, Professor Francesco Canonaco. Responsible for treatments for those with heart problems and metabolic and nutritional queries alongside for traditional relaxation therapies, people travel from far and wide for a week of his expertise.
